Folly Beach is located northeast of the Lighthouse Inlet
and Morris Island and southwest of Kiawah Island and the
Stono Inlet. Folly Beach is approximately ten to fifteen
minutes away from downtown Charleston and is less than
five minutes to James Island.
A majority of the oceanfront properties consists of
single family dwellings although there are a few large
beachfront condominium complexes in the center of the
island.
Throughout the rest of the island you will find single
family homes, duplexes, townhomes and condos.
The eastern end of the island (station 2860-2873),
commonly known as the "Washout," has the best surfing
in all of Charleston and many say it has the best
surfing in all of South Carolina. The western end
of Folly Beach is home to the county park (station
2803 to 2810).
